Lemurs are furry primates.
Most lemurs have
big eyes and long tails.
They have black, white,
brown, tan, or red fur.
Lemurs weigh up to
15 pounds (7 kilograms).

Habitat

Most lemurs live on the
island of Madagascar.
They live in rain forests
and dry areas. They spend
most of their time in trees.

Food

Most lemurs eat leaves,
fruit, and flowers.
They use their thumbs
and fingers to pull
food off trees.
Some lemurs eat insects.

Life Cycle

Female lemurs give birth
to one or two infants
at a time. After about
two weeks, young lemurs
ride on their mothers'
backs. Lemurs live up to
27 years in the wild.

    balance on tree branches.

    bird nests and dirt.
